The Optimal Apple Watch Activity App

I have found the native Apple Watch Activity app to be woefully lacking. I read a recommendation for this app on Reddit and had to check it out. I am VERY glad I did. This app has everything the native Apple Watch Activity app should have. Great daily details, great history and streaks information. The app on the Apple Watch allows you to start and end workouts directly from the app, and the workout options seemed nearly endless. Apple, if you read reviews and if you’re seeking ways to make users truly fall in love with the fitness functionality capabilities of the Apple Watch, you should partner with this Developer. As far as support is concerned, I have only had one other app (GymGoal Pro) with a developer as responsive. I had a response to my question within an hour of submission. I wish my co-workers responded to their emails as quickly! If you’re seeking to make the most of the activity/fitness data from your Apple Watch IMHO you can’t go wrong with this app!

Love this app!

I occasionally browse around for new apple watch apps, especially activity related ones. I saw ATR listed in a reddit post and downloaded it. I was particularly excited about the ability to customize when I get alerts to stand. Often when I get the :50 alert, I'm in the middle of something and can't stand up and I don't want to ruin my streak. I decided to try the power pack and have been pleased thus far. I did have a problem where I was getting alerts to stand when I had already completed the hour, so I emailed the developer. He was quick to respond and explained why it was happening, as well as letting me know he's working on a way to fix the issue.

Latency can kill...

... my Apple Watch. It’s great in giving extra stats, and giving me somewhat useful complications. But the latency in updates is annoying. I was once ready to smash my Apple Watch for refusing to register standing, which given my disability is done at great personal risk... but of significant long term health benefit. Turned out Apple Watch had long ago registered the stand, while this app let the hour end claiming I hadn’t stood that hour. Other times I had wondered why move ring continued to slowly advance after a workout... and getting the goal completion before it showed up.

The delay in updates is even more annoying since I paid for lifetime alerts... being told that I haven’t stood yet for the hour, when I in fact did gets old... as well as inaccurate move alerts... like recently it said I had done less than 50%, when I was far enough ahead to skip evening workout.... while September Challenge is to do workouts, I twisted my ankle to complete August’s challenge... so it’s been hard to keep my streaks alive....
