Communication at home takes many forms — we want more of the dinner-time conversations, but we could do with less of the loud knocking on doors, banging on ceilings, and shouting up stairs. If you have a HomeKit home, why not take advantage of it, and use your lights to help communicate?

Introducing Signals for HomeKit, the best way to communicate in the home, without all the shouting.

Signals works with any of your bulbs, switches or outlets with lights attached - have a kid who plays video games with headphones on? Just tap on their light to give it a few flashes.

Take it to a new level with Signals Plus, and put some meaning behind your flashes:

- Create a Time to Go Signal to flash the kids bedroom lights, and then set their night lights green
- A Dinner Time Signal can pulse lights in the bedrooms and the office, and then set them to blue
- Even setup a “GET DOWN HERE NOW” signal, to flash the kids’ lights red, and keep them that way!

For the very first time on the Mac, you can now triggers your Signals, and even Shortcuts when HomeKit sensors are tripped! With support for Motion Sensors, Contact Sensors, Leak Detectors, Power States, HomeKit Buttons, Security Systems, Temperature Sensors, Humidity Sensors and Battery States, the power is limited only by your imagination:

- Have a home-grown HomeKit security system? Run a Shortcut that flashes your porch lights, turns on the lights in the front room, and sends you a text, to let you know something's going on!

- Have a meeting coming up? Press the HomeKit button your desk to start a Focus mode, turn the light outside your office red, open FaceTime and Notes, and arrange your windows just so!

- Meetings over? Even better! Double click that same HomeKit button to restore your lights, turn off the Focus mode, close all of your working windows, and start a 'relaxation' playlist on your HomePods!

Trigger your Signals in multiple ways — in the app, with your voice using Siri Shortcuts, with our beautiful Widgets, and now using HomeKit automations!

Whether you have kids, or someone in the family with a hearing disability, Signals for HomeKit can help quiet things down, and keep the conversations face to face, rather than shouted through the house.

Requirements
- Any HomeKit equipped light bulb, switch or outlet. Switches or outlets must be configured with a light attached. HomeKit must already be configured.
- Compatible with Mac, iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. iOS 15/macOS 12 required.
- Mac must remain running to trigger Automations.

Usage Notes:
- If you have a bulb or switch with a slow ramp/fade rate, try shortening this rate in the manufacturers app, if the flash isn't noticeable - if this doesn't work, please let us know at https://www.homemadeautomation.com/contact-us, so we can help find a solution!

Simple & Effective, w/ a Hidden Power

Using the app was very intuitive, I felt right at home!
Once unlocked, creating unique Signals gives the App real power. Being able run Signals or flash lights in Siri Shortcuts is a game changer. With two people working from home, it’s nice to flash the lights when I start and stop work to let my SO know when I’m on break. We also flash the lights for dinner and lunch. I’m excited to start incorporating this app into other shortcuts soon.

Hi Cheeseler,

Thanks so much for the feedback! Using the Signals to tell your significant other when you're on a break is an AWESOME idea -- love it! Would love to hear about other ways you find to use it!

It has promise

I like the concept and it is made well. However, aside from the pulse command, I don’t believe anything done through this app would be awfully hard to make a shortcut for. Perhaps I missing something? Nevertheless the app has a good foundation to grow on.

Big Letdown!

I purchased Signals for my iPhone because the splash screen claimed it works with automations. I expected to pulse my lights for doorbell notifications or flash lights for open doors. However, the app doesn't automate anything via the phone. I tried to get a refund from Apple twice but was denied. Now, the developer has $5, and I have an app that does nothing. Despite the app store description and splash screen, the developer denies supporting automations. They suggested using the Mac version, but that requires an additional $3.99 to unlock automations.
