Description

20% off, for a limited time, to celebrate the launch of TimeStory iPad Edition 1.0 on the iPad App Store! (And the iPad Edition is also on sale!)

TimeStory helps you create graphical timelines—project plans, roadmaps, personal journals, histories, or any other illustration of events or tasks—quickly and easily, while avoiding the complexity of project management tools.

Sketch out events by pointing, clicking, dragging and dropping. Focus in on days, zoom out to decades, or set your scale anywhere in between. Style your documents, choosing fonts, sizes, event icons and shapes, and colors, and attaching your own images.

Present and organize your events directly, with quick filtering, zooming, highlighting, and navigation controls, or publish your work elsewhere with image and PDF export. Exchange event data using CSV import/export. Group your events into sections and subsections which can be rearranged or hidden. Automate your workflows and integrations with Shortcuts.

TimeStory is fast and simple enough to let you quickly capture rough ideas, and robust and flexible enough to let you build, refine, and publish even large, complex timelines.

What’s New

Version 3.6.2

This update brings a number of small improvements and fixes.
- Fixed the display of certain SVG icons which used a less-common but valid number format internally.
- Added several new event-styling column types to CSV import/export, including Bar Type, Title Position, and Point Icon Height.
- Added a new explicit Point or Span column type to CSV import/export, as an alternative to the current approach of depending on a blank End Date to indicate a point event.
- Made it possible to represent the Original Image Color option for multicolor point event icons in CSV files (as a blank color field).

Perfect for project timelines!

I've experimented with a number of project management tools including Asana, Trello, and others. But what I most need from these tools is a simple, intuitive, visual way to track the progress of my various client projects. I don't really need all the other collaboration tools expensive and bloated platforms provide, and none do a very good job with timelines anyway.

Gave TimeStory a shot and it has been an amazing and infinitely more affordable solution for creating project timelines and tracking progress. It's super customizable, visually attractive, and suits my purposes perfectly.

Lastly, the developer is incredible. Extremely responsive, and even takes feature requests seriously. Actually updated the program to incorporate a feature recommendation I made, and then notified me individually to let me know the feature had been added. Amazing, and very much appreciated.

Thanks for the awesome review!

(Nearly) perfect!

Why do Gantt charts have to be so text and formula heavy and unpleasant to look at? TimeStory solves that problem making planning accessible for the visually inclined. I have been looking for something like this for month and am thrilled to have found this app. My only critique would be that it would be nice for blocks of 1 day to be able to insert even 2 letters of text (rather than the '...'). Even when I shrink it down to 10pt text it still just shows the dots. And perhaps a little bit more flexibility on the points so that can fit into a single date rather than between two days (I use them as feedback points in my production schedule). Otherwise, brilliant!

Thanks for the wonderful review, and for the suggestions! [Update, 4/29/21: In version 2.5, released a couple of days ago, I reduced the minimum padding around labels within an event graphic, based on your and others' feedback. In many cases, this will allow a couple more characters to show before truncating with the '...'.]

Just what I was looking for

I have been looking for an app that can show on a timeline the components of my life, and this does it.

Under one section called Family I have my parents, spouse, and kids spanned out on the timeline, providing a visual comparison of who lived when and for how long.

I have another category called Employment with my career mapped out along the timeline.

Another category is Education, showing which schools I attended.

Another category is Houses, showing the addresses where I lived and when.

The Travel category has my travels laid out on the timeline.

Other categories are Cars, Motorcycles, Computers, Cameras.

TimeStory is a very useful app and very different from other timeline apps I've used. It's easy to figure out, but the documentation and HELP is excellent. Best of all, the developer is quick to respond to suggestions so this app has a bright future.

If you're not sure about spending the $$, then be sure to download the free trial app on the developer's website.
