Finally! Version 2.8 brings precipitation and weather warning notifications, a new large widget, and a bunch of other improvements across the board.

NOTIFICATIONS
Weather notifications are finally here! We have all the basics, like super precise minute-by-minute rain and snow notifications, and notifications for severe weather warnings. We also added a bunch of neat touches. Mercury will send follow-up notifications if the precipitation forecast changes and will look ahead to estimate whether it’s a short shower or rain for the rest of the day.

NEW WIDGET
Can't decide between the hourly, the daily, and the interactive hourly/daily widget but have Home Screen widget space to spare? Perfect! Our new large widget shows you the current conditions, rain (if it is expected), the hourly forecast (including bonus data points), and, of course, the daily forecast (including Trip Forecast). It’s a good one!

IMPROVEMENTS
We also cleaned up layout issues with overlapping chart values and inconsistent padding on watchOS 11 and added more details to the help section.

In version 2.6, we added the current air quality and an air quality forecast (Mercury Premium), added the option to show wind-only in the hourly chart and widget, and added a new preview when configuring hourly details. We also fixed a bunch of layout issues in the hourly chart.

This update introduces Trip Forecast! This one’s been in the making for a while, and we’re so excited to finally release it!

Trip Forecast lets you enter upcoming trips in Mercury. Once the trip is coming up, the weather at the destination will automatically show as part of your daily forecast timeline.

We’ve also added our first batch of custom app icons, added more forecast details, and improved a bunch of other things.

After finding a bunch of ways of optimizing the performance of the watch app, I also couldn't help myself from bringing those changes to the iOS and iPadOS apps as well. Ideally, nothing should look any different but things should feel a bit snappier (writing this makes me realize that those were probably not the most wisely spent 30 hours of my life…)

It was pretty windy in Vancouver last week. On a related note, we've added gusts to the current weather section. To see the gusts, tap the "wind" label in the top card. (You can also tap "humidity" to see the dew point.) You can also activate live mode by long-pressing the wind label to see the wind's direction relative to the direction you're facing.

This was supposed to be a quick update to improve the performance of the watchOS app, but one thing led to another, so here we go…

The watch app now dynamically shows more details about the current weather conditions, such as humidity, dew point (visible by tapping the humidity label), wind, and UV index. We've also made some significant changes to improve the responsiveness of the watch app, especially on older devices.

If you don't like the dynamic weather data source selection or if you have very specific weather data requirements, you can lock it to always use either Apple Weather or OpenWeather (no hard feelings!).

When looking at the forecast for future days in the day overview, we now display the date of the selected day in the header.

If you're at an airport, we've made some changes to show the airport name instead of the name of the tiny town the airport is part of (no more confusion about landing in "Hounslow"!)

We also fixed an issue with customizable widgets on older iOS 16 versions (if you haven't already, you should check them out. Malin spent a lot of time on them, and they look super neat!) and fixed a few minor localization issues.

We're still working on the Mac app and trip forecast, which needs a little bit more time. We're aiming to release these in early March.

This is a fun one! We've added new widgets and complications, including new sizes and a shiny new daily forecast widget. We've also localized Mercury to German, so make sure to tell all your German friends! We, of course, also tweaked and fixed a few things here and there. Most notably, we added a workaround for when the watch sometimes would tell us that it's located right on the equator when it's not.

1.2.1 also includes a bunch of dynamic type improvements in the widgets and the main app.

This time we improved the layout of the minute-by-minute rain Lock Screen widget and added a workaround for those of you who still see intermittent widget "demo" labels (sorry!).
The next update will be more fun, we promise!

Thanks for all the feedback so far! This time we fixed a bug that would cause the circular watch complication to incorrectly show the current temperature in Celsius. We also improved the chart layout on upcoming OS versions.

This time we (yet again) made the widget more resilient to network and GPS issues. We improved the launch performance of the watch app (a lot!), improved the layout of the forecast widget, and enhanced support for extra large font sizes.

Happy iOS 16 release week!

This is a quick update to fix a few things that weren't quite right. Haze is no longer rain blue, the charts make better use of the small space on the Apple Watch and the iPhone Lock Screen, and we improved some things that didn't look right with larger accessibility fonts enabled.
