GamingBuddy adds Best Games list, company info, franchises & more
By Filip Němeček • Nov. 11, 2024
Version 3.2 brings new ways to discover games and further enhances the game detail screen with more information. This is the most significant update in 2024.
Best Games
Powered by OpenCritic, GamingBuddy shows all the best games released since 2016. The best games are grouped by year and ordered by the average score. This means *easy access to over 500 of the very best games *released in recent years.
The list is automatically updated as OpenCritic aggregates more scores and will only grow further. Previous integration makes reviews for all these games accessible from the detail page.
Company detail
With the new update, gamers can learn more about the individual companies behind the games (either developers or publishers). The new detail page shows available descriptions, official links, and lists of all developed or published games. This makes it easy to find more titles by one’s favorite developer studio.
Franchise & other additional content
Version 3.2 also brings substantial enhancements to a game detail page. For example, it allows users to view other games in the same franchise, ordered chronologically. This way, anyone can quickly discover the entire Assassin’s Creed or Call of Duty franchise.
For bundles, the app now displays the bundled games, and if the game has any DLCs or other expansions, these are also displayed in detail. Finding additional content for owned games is just a few taps away.
Browsing games by game modes or genres
Existing game lists are joined by the ability to view all games for particular game modes (single-player, MMO, etc) or genres (shooter, racing, etc). These lists are ordered by release date to show the most relevant games first. Only games for these platforms are shown if the user has preferred platforms set up.
New “Activity” view for games in the collection
Favorite games now feature easier UI to move them between statuses (for example from Backlog to Playing) and feature history. Thanks to the new Activity page, gamers can see how long it took them to beat the game or when they first added the game to their backlog.
More details about release dates
Nowadays, games offer “Early Access,” betas, and other release dates. GamingBuddy can now show all the available information, not just full releases. This makes it easy to see when the game was first available (for example, advanced access for pre-order) or even shut down for online games.
Availability
GamingBuddy version 3.2 is widely available for iPhones starting November 4, 2024. The app requires iOS 16+.
