v 3.6.2

This update brings a number of small improvements and fixes.
- Fixed the display of certain SVG icons which used a less-common but valid number format internally.
- Added several new event-styling column types to CSV import/export, including Bar Type, Title Position, and Point Icon Height.
- Added a new explicit Point or Span column type to CSV import/export, as an alternative to the current approach of depending on a blank End Date to indicate a point event.
- Made it possible to represent the Original Image Color option for multicolor point event icons in CSV files (as a blank color field).

v 3.6.1

Fixed a crash which only occurred on recent versions of macOS Sonoma, and only for certain document layouts. The crash could occur when editing filters or sections, and sometimes in other cases.

v 3.6

3.6 brings a batch of feature updates, including:
- Date-range highlights on events can now be limited to one section, to below the header, or to just the header.
- The document zoom level is now controllable from a slider, letting you choose any value from 25% to 400%, though the existing fixed levels are still available.
- Long titles in left-side section headers now word-wrap if needed.

This release also fixes a some bugs. Notably, rapid shift+click multi-select is now more consistent, section title color changes now always take effect right away, and a significant slowdown was fixed when editing a multi-line event title over a document with weekend shading enabled.

v 3.5.3

3.5.3 fixes two bugs:
- When adding new point event icons, it was possible (but thankfully not common) to get into a state where the icon window and the Inspector's icon picker both stopped working! This update prevents that from happening and, if it had already happened, restores the use of the icons you’d previously added.
- TimeStory was displaying certain SVG icons incorrectly, with extra overlaid content; this update now displays those icons correctly.

v 3.5.2

This update fixes two important bugs.
- In 3.5.1, on macOS versions prior to Sonoma, when you completely hid the timeline header, you were unable to select or edit *any* timeline contents!
- In some cases, when you click on the app and it automatically pops open a new, untitled document, it would not use the correct default timeline template, starting you with a style different from the one you get by explicitly choosing File > New.

v 3.5.1

This small update fixes some display issues around section headers, the Sections dialog, and the timeline header.

v 3.5

Automatic text colors are now much smarter and more precise, changing color within event titles as your text passes over lighter or darker backgrounds. With recent features like weekend shading, old features like time-range highlighting, and the new-to-3.5 ability for "inside" text to flow out of a span event graphic, this keeps your event titles readable on even the most text-heavy and complex timelines.

v 3.4

- New: Give weekends a different background color on any daily or weekly timeline view
- New: Give attached images borders, and draw lines to their events
- Fixed: Regional date format overrides are now properly saved in your document

There are a few more minor updates, as well. Find full details, and screenshots, at https://timestory.app/releases/3.4.html

v 3.3.2

3.3.2 fixes a small bug, speeds up large timeline updates during editing, and brings a couple of other minor improvements.

- If you used a built-in timeline configuration (years, quarters, months, weeks, or days), but customized the labeling (for example by changing “day of month” to “month and day”), there was a bug that didn’t keep that change when you again loaded the document later. Fixed.
- On a large, colorful, or text-heavy timeline, things like animated timescale changes or drag-and-drop editing are now faster and smoother, thanks to some performance improvements in the code which draws the timeline.
- The automatic text color logic would sometimes choose black text over some dark colors where white text would have much better contrast; this has been adjusted.
- CSV files exported from TimeStory now work better when opened in Microsoft Excel. If you’ve ever done a CSV export and seen strange characters while loading into Excel, this is for you. If not, because you use Numbers or something else, this won’t affect you at all.

v 3.3.1

This small update brings a couple of fixes to CSV Export.

- CSV export settings are now preserved per document, so it's easier to repeatedly export as you update your timeline.
- A bug was fixed which would sometimes result in exports with incorrect columns (often "Empty" instead of the desired type).

Check out https://timestory.app/releases/3.3.1.html for a little more details, as well as a full release history.

v 3.3

New in 3.3:
- Option+drag one or more events to duplicate them.
- Choose Duplicate Section to make a copy of the section including styles, subsections, and events.
- A small batch of bug fixes; notably, item description fields were unreadable in Dark Mode, and section tags weren't properly saved.

Find full, detailed release notes to this, and all other versions, on the Web at https://timestory.app/releases/3.3.html

3.3 is hot on the heels of 3.2, which brought in:
- Set standard event colors on a section, and they automatically apply to any events created there or dragged in.
- Autosaving is now enabled by default, including saving of drafts and revision history (with an option to turn it back off)
- Tighter integration with iCloud Drive, including an app-specific folder and syncing of live edits (if autosave is on).
- More bugs fixed, including for a crash that affected some people.

March 6, 2023

v 3.2

New Features:
- You can now set event colors consistently for a section, an often-requested feature! Enable it on the section, choose your colors (or just let it copy the section header's colors), and those colors will override any events you create within or drag into that section. Check out the built-in Colorful Weekly template for an example.
- Autosave! Version 3.2 switches to autosaving by default. This includes automatic saving of drafts, and continuous autosaving of work as you edit, to preserve your changes in case of crashes and to keep a history of revisions which you can browse under the Revert menu. But if you prefer the classic "save only when I tell you" mode and menus, just uncheck the new preference checkbox.
- If you use iCloud Drive, you'll find tighter integration, with a TimeStory app-specific folder, and the ability to move to iCloud from the File menu. And, with autosaving enabled, if you open the same iCloud document on two computers, changes made on one will automatically sync to the other after a small delay.

There are a few other, smaller improvements. There are also a fair number of bug fixes, including a fix for a crash which affected some people, a problem with printing certain custom point event icons, and some inconsistencies in CSV import behavior.

v 3.1.1

V3.1.1 just fixes two bugs related to font changing: you can now again change a timeline header's font, and changing a title font no longer updates the default unless you tell it to.

Jan. 13, 2023

v 3.1

Two main features...
- A redesigned Welcome Window at launch makes it easier to choose a template or recent document, with preview images of each.
- Event icons can now be installed from single-file "packs", introducing a quick way to add a collection of icons at once.

...and other smaller features and fixes, including a new Shortcut action for CSV import, compatibility with more SVG icons, fixes to the Inspector, and more!

v 3.0.1

Version 3.0.1 fixes a crash discovered when applying the default style to a section. It is otherwise identical to 3.0.

3.0 release notes follow:

Version 3.0 was the biggest single update since version 1!

* The timeline header is now fully configurable. Choose units, label formats, borders, text alignment, background color, and vertical gridlines.

* Span events have a new thin line option, for a cleaner look, especially when they are overlapped by point events.

* Point events can now be freely dragged on top of span events, without holding any modifier keys.

* Document templates can now be applied to existing documents, and you can now pick which template to use for the default.

* CSV import and export have been completely overhauled, supporting many more event properties, nested sections, format detection, and revised, drag-and-drop interfaces.

* More highlights: Point and span events now have different default styles, and they can be directly controlled. Point events can now be placed in the middle of a day, instead of its start. You can apply a different background color to the past, making daily tracking of timelines more visual. Section editing is *much* better, with more consistent and powerful menu and context-menu actions available from more contexts, and several key bugs fixed. The Inspector has been updated, with rethought layout and collapsible sections.

Jan. 14, 2022

v 2.8
